Ruth Hendrix Obituary

Ruth Adams Hendrix PORT ST. JOE - Ruth Adams Hendrix, 87, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2008. She was born in Cartersville, GA on December 18, 1920 to the late Herman L. and Sue Hull Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wayne Hendrix, who passed away in 2004; and a sister, Louise Carlson. Ruth received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA, and taught school for several years in Fort Lauderdale, FL before marrying Wayne in 1945. They came to Port St. Joe in 1949 where he established a family medical practice which he maintained for over 50 years. Ruth provided strong support for her husband and was a proud mother and grandmother. She was involved in a number of community organizations. She and her late husband were members of the Long Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters: Becky Hendrix of Atlanta, GA; Holly Jimison and her husband Chuck of Greensboro, NC; and Judy Brannon and her husband Lee of Pace, FL; and four grandchildren: Leslie Jimison, Kyle Jimison, Emily Stilwell, and Clayton Brannon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at Long Avenue Baptist Church in Port St. Joe, with with Pastor Danny Odum of White Oak Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA officiating. Entombment will follow in Holly Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. EST. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 West Nineteenth Street, Panama City, FL 32405 or a favorite charity. Dearest Becky,
Jay and I are thinking of you and your family as you say goodbye to your dear mom. I know you will find that your mother is so much a part of you that even in death she will remain in your heart, your mind and in all of the many ways she has helped you to become the wonderful woman that you are.
