Aaron Andrew Obituary

WEAVER, Chief Warrant Officer Aaron Andrew, U.S. Army, age 32, of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and former Inverness resident, died in the line of duty on January 8, 2004 near Fallujah, Iraq. Born on June 7, 1971 in St. Petersburg to Michael and Kelly Weaver, he grew up in Citrus County and graduated from Citrus High School in 1989. He enlisted in the Army and completed his first tour of duty in 1996. During this tour, he was recognized for heroic efforts in Somalia, retrieving downed soldiers from a helicopter crash. Following his discharge, he attended Central Florida Community College before re-enlisting in the Army to begin pilot training. On September 8, 2000, he married the former Nancy Gallagher from Crystal River. He was deployed to Iraq in October, 2003 and assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. He was killed when his helicopter was shot down near Fallujah. Aaron loved his wife, children, and family, and enjoyed tournament bass fishing. He is survived by wife, Nancy Gallagher Weaver of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; daughter, Savannah of Ft. Bragg; step son, Austin of Ft. Bragg; father, Michael of Inverness; mother, Kelly of Clearwater; two brothers, Steven M. Weaver, and Ryan B. Weaver, both in the U.S. Army; five sisters, Shannon Filicetta of Tarpon Springs, Ashley Weaver of Inverness, Regina Weaver of the U.S. Air Force, Paige Weaver of Inverness, and Kiersten Weaver of Inverness; and paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Weaver of Summerville, Ga. Military services and honors will be conducted Saturday, January 17 at 3:30 p.m. from the Citrus High School Athletic Stadium of Inverness under the direction of the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Interment will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Highway 41 South in Inverness.
