Andrew GOODYEAR Obituary

GOODYEAR, Andrew

James Sr. "A.J."

89, of Riverview, went home to be with Jesus Aug. 12, 2015. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII, participating in the landing at Iwo Jima. A.J. was a very successful softball player, playing for Tampa Electric's team as an employee for over 39 years. He was scouted for the Cincinnati Reds, but elected to stay local, coaching little league players for years and influencing many young people in a positive way. AJ also loved to fish, winning the Tampa Tarpon Tournament twice. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Stephen Goodyear. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Beverly, to whom he was happily married for over 64 years; four children, Andrew James Jr. (Cici), Christopher Goodyear, Pamela Lynn Westby (Richard), Jimmy Goodyear (Carol); daughter-in-law, Cheryl Goodyear; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am-12 pm, with 12 pm funeral services Saturday, Aug. 22, at South Bay Church, 13498 US Hwy 301 S., Riverview, FL 33578. Interment will follow at Ft. Lonesome Cemetery, with well deserved Military Honors.
