Arnaz MARKER

MARKER, Arnaz Jamsheed (Minwalla) beloved wife of the late Jamsheed K. Marker, (Ambassador of Pakistan to the USA and UN inter alia, and Diplomat In Residence at Eckerd College) died peacefully at her Karachi home January 7, 2021 aged 81. A graduate of the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, she was an attractive and vivacious hostess. Her warmth and openness were augmented by a kindness that encompassed everyone. She helped countless people both individually, with advice and practical assistance; and collectively, through her official involvement in women's issues at the U.N. and APWA. Her great empathy for the ill and unfortunate made her generosity extend beyond her own circle to include strangers in need. Her instinct to serve others led her to become a Reiki Master and, in later life, she volunteered at hospices and other care facilities. When Jamsheed retired, after a distinguished career as Ambassador to nineteen countries, they settled in St. Petersburg. He taught at Eckerd College whilst Arnaz became a vibrant member of numerous social and charitable organizations. Their home was a focal point for their many diplomatic, academic, Parsi, Pakistani and Floridian friends. A self described 'people person' she was the center of a vast network of affectionate relatives and friends. She loved dogs, dancing, swimming, and travel but, above all else, she adored her family. Her joie de vivre, liveliness and irrepressible good humor cheered the many people she helped and brightened the lives of all of us who knew her. She will be much missed. She is survived by her beloved niece, Naila Jamall whose devotion eased her final years; her stepdaughter, Niloufer Marker Reifler; her siblings, Goshi Masnata, Mithoo Birdie and Happy Minwalla; and everyone in the Marker, Minwalla and Jamall families.
