Arthur LEWIS Obituary
93, of Tampa, Florida, passed away January 21, 2018. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was a decorated Army veteran who served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After the war, he completed his studies in Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University and went on to receive a Master's degree in public health from the University of Minnesota. At his retirement in 1991, he served as Director of the Tampa Epidemiology Research Laboratory for the Florida State Department of Health. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Florence; son, John; and sister-in-law, Betty Hamrick all of Tampa, FL. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am, January 27, 2018 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.

My condolences at the loss of a fine gentleman. I worked with Dr. Lewis at the ERC from 1986 until his retirement in 1991. Dr. Lewis was a hard working, kind and patient mentor to so many. He set an excellent example for us to follow. Under his quiet demeanor was a sense of humor that we were fortunate to experience. I have continued to work for the State of Florida in the Public Health field and Dr. Lewis is still brought up in conversation and remembered with respect and great fondness for his dedication and work by those of us who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

I still work for the state of Florida in the Public Health field and Dr. Lewis is still thought of, brought up in conversation and remembered with respect and fondness by those who were fortunate enough to know and work with him.
