Barbara Phillips Obituary

Phillips, Barbara Ann

of Tampa, passed away suddenly and joined our Lord on Friday, September 26, 2025. Born in Cumberland, Maryland, she moved to Tampa with her family in 1964, and made it her home for over 61 years. She was a graduate of H.B. Plant High School. Barbara had a successful career in the commercial insurance industry for many years. Lovingly referred to as "Barb" by her family and friends, she enjoyed a lifetime love of horses, showing her Tennessee Walking horses and going on frequent trail rides with friends. She loved cats, and several kittens who wandered into her life found a loving home with her over the years. An avid reader, Barb especially enjoyed non-fiction books. Barb's love of travel took her on a variety of adventures. She cruised through the Panama Canal, explored the extensive landscapes of Germany, and toured several U.S. National Parks, including Yosemite, Zion, Yellowstone, and the Grand Canyon. Barb loved her family. She was very generous to both family and friends, frequently putting everyone else's needs before her own. She is deeply missed. Barb is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Steve Phillips; her parents, and an older sister. Barb is survived by her only son, Clinton Phillips (Tracey) of Kingsland, Georgia; sister, Beverlee Marshall of Plant City, Florida; granddaughters, Meredith Phillips of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Carolyn Phillips of Rolla, Missouri; and nephew, Christopher Vermeulen, of Portland, Maine. The family would like to thank the Neptune Society for their compassion and assistance during this difficult time. A celebration of Barb's life will be held at a future date for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to any local or national animal rescues.
