Thrun, Barbara Jean

86, passed away on August 7, 2025 in the care of Hospice. Born September 4, 1938 in Chattanooga, TN, daughter of William and Ruth Broome, she moved with her parents to St. Petersburg when she was six years old. She grew up in St. Petersburg, was a majorette and graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1955.

Barbara married Robert Thrun in 1968 and shared 49 wonderful years together. They enjoyed their loving family, traveled often and were active members at Bay Point Christian Church. Barbara worked in various business offices throughout her life but her favorite position was Assistant to the Dean of Admissions at Eckerd College for 12 years. She was so open and friendly to all; both students and staff often called her Mom.

Barbara was the heart of our family, we will miss her dearly. Survivors include her sister, Kathy Brown and husband, Dave; her sons, Doug Meredith and his life partner Nancy, Brad Meredith and wife Jane; stepson, Larry Thrun and wife Barbara Ann; stepdaughter, Connie Foster and husband Roger; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her two stepdaughters, Kathy Thrun and Patty Baker.
