Bette Singleton Obituary

SINGLETON, Bette (Smith) of Redington Beach, began her eternal life on June 26, 2011. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ken Singleton; daughter Lori Singleton, Tampa; son Mike Singleton; daughter-in-law Robin Singleton; grandchildren Matt and Chelsea Singleton, all of Lutz. She is predeceased by her father and mother, William and Kathlyn Smith. She grew up at Redington Beach and graduated from Boca Ciega High School. She worked for the Pinellas Sheriff's office when she and Ken married in December, 1956. She was President of Singleton Signs and Specialties in Tampa, before retiring in 2000 and completing one of her lifetime goals, "moving back to the beach." She was an avid tennis player at Carrollwood in Tampa and then at Treasure Island Tennis & Yacht Club. Bette was an outstanding artist and was involved in a number of art and craft shows in the area. Many local residents own one of her oil paintings or one of the many crafts she designed. One of her many quality traits were "doing for others." She sent cards for birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions, even as her health declined, not thinking of her own problems but trying to make others feel good. "Mimi," as she is affectionately known will be greatly missed by her family and all those who came in contact with her. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother to her family and a friend to all she came in contact with. A "celebration of her life" service will be held at the Church by the Sea, 495 137th Ave. Circle (Gulf Blvd. and 137th), Madeira Beach, FL 33708 at 2 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2011. The family will receive friends following the Service. The family would like to express a special 'thank you' to the wonderful nurses and care givers from Suncoast Hospice, especially Zori, Christine and the purple team. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bette's name may be made to Church by the Sea. Online memorial & guestbook at www.brettfuneralhome.net Brett Funeral Home & Cremation Services 727-321-3321
