Charles BRICKSON Obituary

BRICKSON, Charles Eric "Charlie" born January 23, 1972 Charlie passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2023, with his siblings by his side. He was born and raised in Tampa and was a life long resident. He loved his dogs, his girlfriend, football, fishing and watching movies, and could spit out lines from his favorites all day. Fall weekends were spent cheering for the Cowboys, Bucs and Gators. Predeceased by relatives who died before he did and survived by the ones who are left to wonder and lament how he could have died before they did, since he was the baby of the family. No services are planned, but the family would truly enjoy and appreciate anyone that knew him leaving a memory or anecdote of him on the online guest book. Some of his ashes will be spread over what he considered his favorite place in the world, the Moonrise Resort in Floral City on Lake Tsala Apopka, where he enjoyed many childhood vacations and adult fishing trips. Goodbye little brother. You left us too early. We still had fish yet left to catch.

Your passing is sad. It makes me wonder what happened to your family and friends when you were in need.

Charlie was my best friend from the 2nd grade to high school. I stayed over at his house what felt like a hundred times, playing monopoly (skamopoly) late into the night.

I tested into a higher math class in 2nd grade and was terrified when I moved from my regular class into that one. Charlie was the first one to calm me down and be my friend. He protected me for years. He was smart and confident and fearless. He was also generous and funny.

We went to Bobby Hicks what seemed like everyday in the summer. He taught me how to fish at Robinson lake with chicken livers as chum. He taught me how to dig up worms. He taught me how to stand up for myself.

Eventually, the school system that moved us up to a higher math required us to redo an entire year of math (the entire class) for some burraucratic reason. So all of us redid the exact same class even though we already knew the material. That year was torture and all of us were bored. Susie, Okie, Dietry, Trish, Charlie, and me.

I haven´t seen you for 20 years, but I think about you a lot and I wish I could have helped you somehow. I´m sorry we drifted apart. I love you bud.
