Rest easy Chancellor Reed, you were a strong but generous soul. You will be missed.

Charles B. Reed was an exceptional person. He once stated that while we should "never forgot who signs your check," we should keep in mind that we don't work for "institutions". We work for people, especially for the dedicated public servants who make America's beautiful system of public education the envy of the world.
Yes, Charles B. Reed will be remembered as a mover and shaker. More importantly, our Charlie Reed was a true and trusted steward, a remarkable teacher, a kind and caring family man and a friend. He made this world a better place.
Thank you.

Charlie was the rare person who knew how to get things done in the political arena and had a deep understanding of the policy issues at stake. He had sharp elbows, a brilliant mind, and a tender heart. It was a pleasure to work with him in the Florida Governor's Office, and he went on to make massive contributions to higher education. There will be only one Charlie Reed, but the world could use a lot more people like him.

Charlie Reed was an outstanding man - smart, generous, dedicated. I just wish Florida hadn't lost him to California, but he made history wherever he was. My loves goes out to the family, especially daughter Susan.

I have wonderful memories of Dr. Reed while I worked with the BOR. He was highly respected and was a very talented man. I offer my deepest condolences to his family. They should be proud of him in every respect. My prayers are for his family, I know he is missed. It is a wonderful thing to hear the praise " job well done from the highest authority".

I had the privilege to be the General Counsel to the Florida Board of Regents while Dr. Reed was the Chancellor of the State University System, and I enjoyed both working with and for him. He was one of the smartest and most dedicated people I've known.
