Charles SENGER Obituary

SENGER, Charles G. Jr. 82, of Palm Harbor, passed away May 27, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles G. Sr. and Annabelle Parry Senger. He was raised in Teaneck, NJ and graduated from LaSalle Military Academy in Oakdale, Long Island, NY. He graduated from Florida Southern College, was inducted into the 2002, inaugural Florida Southern Sports Hall of Fame for both baseball and basketball. In 1957, he taught & coached at Ribault High School in Jacksonville, FL. There he met and married Linda Brinson. They had two sons, Chuck and Steve. Charlie was in professional baseball for 20 years, settling in Toledo, OH, as general manager of The Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club from 1966-1978. Charlie won "Executive of the Year" in every league he served. In 1976, he was elected vice president of the Triple A International League. After leaving baseball, he moved to St. Petersburg as a health consultant at Edward White Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 55 years; his sons, Chuck (Monica) and Steve Senger; his grandson, Christian; granddaughter, Sydney; sisters, Joyce (Jerry) Sewell, Carole (John-deceased) Shallenburg, Eileen (Paul) Melton; brother, Edward L. Senger (deceased); sisters-in-law, Barbara (Richard) Westberry, Jimmie "Boo" Granger; brother-in-law, Johnny (Cindy) Granger; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family service is planned.

Linda,
