Christopher Pavlo Obituary

PAVLO, Christopher "Chris," 98, of Sebring, Fla., passed away Monday, April 18, 2011, at his residence. He was born September 26, 1912, in Drevnoveni, Macedonia (Northern Greece). As a young boy, he was a shepherd in his village. At 16 years of age, he came to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Pier 22 with $12.00 in his pocket. In Canada, he had many jobs including as a shoe shine boy, running a cook house in the circus, having a ferris wheel on Centre Island and opening restaurants in Toronto, Canada. In 1950, he moved to Coral Gables, Fla., with his wife, Jessie. There he built an apartment complex. Then in 1962, he built one of the first hotels in Coral Gables, Chateau Bleau Inn, which is still in existence today. He moved to Sebring in 1980. Then in 1992, at the age of 80, he built and owned Inn on the Lakes in Sebring, Fla. He is survived by his daughter, Christine and son-in-law, Phil Hatfield of Sebring. 6-7 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Dowden Funeral Home Chapel. The Rite of Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at St. Catherine Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Father J. Peter Sheehan and concelebrants will be Fathers Michael Cannon, Nicholas McLoughlin and Jose Gonzalez. Condolences may be expressed by visiting TBO.com.
