Cyndee Thomas Obituary

THOMAS, Cyndee Irene. On September 28, 2014, Zephyrhills lost one of their own, Cyndee Irene Thomas, born December 12, 1961. She lived in Zephyrhills her whole life. She was a fifth generation Floridian. The proud granddaughter of sharecroppers, she was the first child from her family to graduate from college. She graduated St. Leo with a Bachelor's degree in History and Political Science. While attending St. Leo, she was editor of the Monarch, the college newspaper, made the Dean's list and worked at the library. That work inspired her to get her Master's degree in Library Science from U.S.F. Cyndee worked briefly for the Pasco County Library System. Her last employment before her debiliating illness was an aide for students with autism at Wesley Chapel High School. Her accomplishments were too many to mention. She belonged to several organizations but one that she held most dear was the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of Trilby Chapter, N.O. 89, O.E.S. She was a dual member of First Baptist Church and First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Her strong faith (despite her suffering) was an inspiration to everyone who met her. If you knew her, you were blessed. Cyndee always had a good word to say. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Irene Thomas and her brother, Larry Thomas. She is survived by her sister, Linda Thomas Herndon (William) and her late brother's descendants. Some people teach us how to live. Cyndee Thomas showed us how to die with courage and grace. A Private service will be held at a later date. Donations in Cyndee's memory may be made to: Benedictine Sister's of Florida, P.O. Box 2450 St. Leo, FL 33574.

To hear her sweet voice after all the years of us being apart made me reconnect with our childhood. We would sing on my Aunt and Uncles front porch. I am sure the neighborhood heard us. Her words were so comforting to me the last time I spoke to her. Linda all of us in Pa. Love you!
