Dana GILMORE Obituary

GILMORE, Dana Alan was called home April 15, 2020 at his condo in St. Petersburg, FL. Born in Norristown, PA, November 20, 1954, he was the son of John F. and Edna Beyer Gilmore. A graduate of AD Eisenhower High School, class of 1972, he played trumpet in the school band and in a Motown style band at various local venues. He enjoyed summers at the Jersey shore with family and friends. Dana moved to Tampa in 1973, shortly thereafter building a house in Odessa. In the 1970s, Dana volunteered at radio station WMNF and was the first host of The Freak Show. Dana made many lifelong friends at WMNF and was on the Board of Directors. An avid music affecianardo, Dana listened to all types of music and was seen at many live performances at venues around Tampa, being fond of seeing Uncle John's Band in recent years. From childhood, Dana was a Phillies fan attending games in Philadelphia and spring training in Clearwater for decades with his mother and brother, Paul, having gone to the game before the Corona virus ended Spring Training. Dana graduated from HCCC and worked as a P.I. for many years. Dana regularly summered in Europe making friends in Holland, Belgium, and Germany, having spent August 2019 in Verona seeing Opera. Dana is survived by his daughter, Melissa Faith Gilmore Vivari of Frederick, MD and her husband, Ben; grandchildren, Evan and Ava; brothers, Paul T. Gilmore of St. Petersburg and Charles Baranowski of Warminster, PA; many cousins; nephews: his many friends and brothers and sisters in spirit; and his dog, Riley. Dana and his infectious smile and humor will be missed daily by all who knew him.
