David GORDIUS Obituary

GORDIUS, David G. passed away on Dec. 8, 2021 and was born Sep. 15, 1947. He lived in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He graduated from Maine Maritime Academy; receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Maine Engineering. He was a disabled American Veteran and veteran of the Viet Nam War. He achieved rank of Lieutenant, was licensed Chief Engineer; up to 20,000 horsepower; United States Coastguard; up to 5,000 horsepower per engine; and the State of Maine; up to 100,000 pounds of steam per hour per boiler. He's first ship was the U.S. Mate operated by AEC, Inc. Last ship was the Sea land Consumer operated by Horizon lines, Inc. He was buried at sea with a commemorative leaf at Hernando Hospice Brooksville, Florida. A sister, two brothers, a daughter, Lynn Broughman of Trenton, Maine; granddaughter, Kristine; and great- granddaughter Kaylee of Franklin, Maine, survives him. He was a member of Protestant Congregation Church, American Merchant Marine Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, American Veterans, North American Uniformed Services, Seafarers International Union, Marine Engineers Beneficial Association - District 2, Elks Moose International, and United States Navy Reserve.
