Donald Ferguson Obituary

FERGUSON, Donald E., 79 peacefully passed away at his home in Brandon, Fla., February 26, 2007, after a courageous battle against cancer.He was born February 14, 1928 in Moncton, New Brunswick Canada. He is survived by the love of his life, and wife of 60 years, Shirley Ferguson and daughter, Beverly Connor and one of his best friends in life, her husband, Jim. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Heinemann.In 1966, he moved his family from Canada to Daytona Beach, Fla., which had become the family' s favorite vacation spot. After a long career in retail sales, Don became a real-estate broker and owner of DOSH Realty. Don and Shirley enjoyed many years of working together in real estate as well as traveling and playing golf together. Don' s other great joy in life was fishing and teaching his grandsons how to fish. Affectionately known as "Papa," Don was blessed with three grandsons and five great-grandchildren, T.J. Heinemann and his wife, Jennifer and children Jacob, Abigail and Joshua, Travis Connor and his daughters, Jade and Jessica and Dr. Michael Connor and his wife, Dr. Jeanmarie Connor. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Lodovico Balducci and Dr. Sophie Dessureault of Moffitt Cancer Center for their dedication in the treatment of cancer. In addition, the family would like to thank all of the people involved in the LifePath Hospice-Emerald Team, Sandra Fast, Laura Franco, Merrie Pabellon, Kathy Simpson, and Deb Wells especially demonstrated outstanding care and compassion with Papa. There will be a memorial serviceat 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL 33569. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Don, may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele, Tampa, FL 33609 or Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612-9416. Online messages expressed at www.serenitymeadows.com
