Aunt Debbie,
I definitely have nothing but fond memories of "Monkey Don". I'm glad I got down to Fla for Jamie's wedding and was able to spend some time with him and ya'll not too long ago. I wish I weren't so far away so I could be there in person to give you a big hug. He was a really great guy and he will be missed.

Don was an amazing guy! He had a way about him that made you feel good and was fun to be around. He was a good father and husband. After Christmas, I was listening to this choir singing. It was the most beautiful music you could imagine. The choir sounded like heavenly voices. In the music these melodious seventh chords were being played. It was all I could do to take it in when all of a sudden, I thought to myself, "Don is listening to even a better choir singing. A host of angels, music with chords you couldn't imagine hearing. The human ear probably couldn't contain it." Yes, he is in a world of peace. No pain. He is seeing the most gorgeous sunsets vith vivid colors imaginable. Breathtaking view. We will still feel his presence by the warm memories that he left behind. Deb, you still have those memories and you can feel his love from day to day because God will brush away your tears and give you a peace. He will help the heart to heal and give you strength to go on from day to day. And don't forget, you have your family and friends that you can talk to anytime. No matter what time of the night, God is always mindful of your needs when you pray. We all love you, Deb.
Love,
Ila, George, and grandma

It was so nice to see the wonderful turnout for Don's memorial service today. He definitely meant a lot to many people and I'm glad I had the opportunity to have him as my brother-in-law. I've really enjoyed hearing all the stories everyone had about Don over the past week, especially the one's about the dishwasher. (By the way Don....I loaded your dishwasher today and I purposely put things in the wrong way just so I could pick at you one more time haha) Several versions of dishwasher stories have been mentioned over the past week and those stories will forever be remembered with lots of laughs. Don was definitely a character and he had a special way about him. He will truly be missed.

A time like this is never easy. My sympathies are with you, as well as my prayers. May God grant you peace and love during this tragic time. Focus on the good times and memories, to help bring a smile. Don was such a great and funny guy. I enjoyed the times spent with him and Debbie at the football game parties at cal and jamies. I am priviliged that I got to meet Don.

Christmas will have even more meaning for all of us, Deb...maybe this is why he said as people were leaving - no matter what the time of year, "See ya, Merry Christmas!". You took such wonderful care of him and set an amazing example for all of us as life boiled down to its most precious element...and all you were left with with was the love...that's all we get to take with us...and Don did.
