Duke Newsom Obituary

NEWSOM, Duke Ramon, 84, of Tampa, passed peacefully away Tuesday, March 17, 2009, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Duke was born September 25, 1924, in Tampa and lived most of his life here. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a long-time member of The United States Merchant Marines. He is survived by his daughters, Charmaine Newsom Disimile, Kerry Zinsmeister, sons, Austin Newsom, Norman Newsom, stepson, Tony Austin, brother, Malcom Newsom, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Arrangements have been entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell.

I am so Sorry that we could not accompany Dad to the funeral. Thank you for taking good care of his brother and especially Dad while he was down there. Take care and have peace that you Dad is in a much better place now. Your cousin, Teresa Newsom Wallen
