Ed Lohmann Obituary

Lohmann, Ed "Opa"

was called home on September 18, 2025, and is now with his late wives Eleanor (Eleanor Bertha Koch) who passed in 1977, and Bonnie (Bonnie McGuire), whom he married several years later. He suffered from dementia in his last years and succumbed to it while in a home in West Palm Beach, FL.

Born April 28, 1934, in Queens, NY, he lived in Flatbush before moving to Babylon, NY. He attended Babylon High School and married his high school sweetheart, Eleanor, at 22 years of age and moved into their first home in Babylon where they raised two sons, Edward Jr. and Matthew.

The family moved to Clearwater, FL in 1975 to begin a new life and started a dry-cleaning business called Friendly's. He became known locally as Mr. Friendly and cherished the name. He touched many people in his life, co-signing auto loans for people he barely knew and selling homes he held for rent to the families living in them for much less than they were worth.

He was preceded in death by both Eleanor and Bonnie, and his parents Anna and Ludwig. He leaves behind his sons, Edward Jr., Matthew and his wife Christina; five grandchildren, Nicole, Taylor, Amanda, Jacob, and Jessica; and two great-grandchildren, William and Ciara.

He will be remembered as a loving and faithful husband and great father and grandfather by his family, who already miss him dearly, and as Mr. Friendly by his many friends.
