Edna GILLETT Obituary



GILLETT, Edna Wilson, 91, born April 9, 1919, in Tampa, passed peacefully,

February 1, 2010, at her home in Gaines-ville, Fla., where she resided for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd H. Gillett, Jr. She is survived by her two children, Nancy Leigh Gillett and her companion, Robert Johnson and Wilson Lloyd Gillett and his spouse, Tracey Dyga Gillett. Mrs. Gillett is also survived by her two grandchildren, Catherine Margaret Gillett and Elizabeth Leigh Gillett; and other loving members of the Wilson family. Mrs. Gillett was the seventh of eight children born to James and Elizabeth Wilson. She attended Mitchell Elementary and Plant High School, in Tampa, before attending the University of Tampa. Edna Gillett was a World War II era veteran, who served in the U.S. Navy, Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service. She and her husband lived in Tucson, Ariz., and Savannah, Ga., before they moved to Gainesville, in 1960, where they spent the rest of their lives. Mrs. Gillett enjoyed traveling, arranging flowers, yard sales, healthy living, collecting shells, and dispensing advice to her family and all of their friends.
