Edward Carroll Obituary

CARROLL, Edward W., Jr., 92, of Hendersonville, died Thursday, December 30, 2004 at his home following a sudden illness. He was a native of Tampa, Florida and had lived in Henderson County for the last six years. He was a son of the late Edward W. Carroll, Sr., and Kate Taylor Carroll, and was the husband of the late Mary Katherine Carroll. He was a retired foreman for the Florida Mining Company and was of the Christian faith. Mr. Carroll was a lifetime member of the West State Archeology Society of Florida. He had a wonderfully sharp mind, was an avid reader, especially of books involving history, and loved animals. Survivors include his daughter, Katherine C. Shurtleff, and her husband Frank, of Saluda; a son, Ed W. Carroll, and his wife Grace, of Murphy; a sister, Betty Johnson of Tallahassee, Fla.; four grandsons, James, David and Steve Carroll and Troy Shurtleff; six great- grandchildren; a nephew, Jon Johnson and a niece, Sarah Olson. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the St. Francis Wildlife Association PO Box 38160 Tallahassee, FL 32315. Arrangements are by Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors and Cremation Memorial Center.
