94, of Brandon, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016. Our family mourns the loss of Frank Vass. A Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Frank died at the age of 94 peacefully at home due to complications with Alzheimer's. He months short of celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary to his beloved wife, Eva. He was born on Dec. 28, 1921 in Vamosgyork, Hungary. He was an assistant professor of engineering at Western European University of Sopron. He met Eva a few years later and shortly afterward they were married. They immigrated to the U.S. to escape communism after the 1956 revolution failed. They started a new life in Miami, where his two daughters were born. Frank made a career as a structural engineer for the Miami Dade Water Department where he was employed for over 35 years. He retired at the age of 68, and he and he and Eva moved to Brandon to be closer to the grandchildren. Frank had a passion for fishing and the outdoors and his favorite fish to catch was Snook. He was a member of the Tampa Terrace Garden Club with his wife Eva. He was also a volunteer at Mango Elementary and assisted in the classroom. He had a great sense of humor, a warm smile and was a gentle, kind, loving, and affectionate spirit. He is survived by his daughters, Susan, Kathy and husband Don; grandchildren, Kirsten, Spencer, Nikki, and her husband Brian, Donnie and his wife Evelyn, and Jason; and his great-grandchildren, Chloe, Evan, Arnold, Emma, and Ethan. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2 pm, at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4450 County Rd 579, Seffner, with a Celebration of Life afterwards in the Church hall. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to LifeCare of Brandon, a Christian pregnancy crisis center for women who need support and help with their pregnancy, birth and care of their baby and The Alzheimer's Association.
