Irene DeSAFEY Obituary

DeSAFEY, Irene Elizabeth 90, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was taken home to be with her Lord on August 16, 2021. She is survived by two of her cherished daughters, Dr. Cheryl DeSafey Blume and Dr. Karen DeSafey Liller (fiancé, Ron Glickman); six grandchildren, Michelle Renee Blume, Lindsay Irene Blume (Douglas Carmody), Matthew Thomas DeSafey (Minjel Shah), Rebecca Irene Liller, Charles Oliver Jaap VI (fiancée Mackenzie McAnallen) and Thomas Alexander Jaap (fiancée Kaline Schwanke); four great-grandchildren, Annabelle Joy Gutowski, Daniel David Gutowski, Corrie Cheryl Blume and Theodore James Paul Blume; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Thomas DeSafey; her treasured daughter, Lisa Irene Jaap; her parents and siblings. She was born on April 1, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Daniel and Elizabeth Cenderelli. She was married on October 9, 1949, and was a wonderful wife and mother to her three daughters. She worked tirelessly always, to give all she had for her children and family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and she had a deep bond with every one of them. She loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. She graduated from Tampa Bible College, was an ordained Deacon in the Presbyterian Church, and taught countless religious classes throughout the years. She gave years of service to Village Presbyterian Church in Tampa, Florida. A graveside service for immediate family will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens on Friday, August 20, 2021. A memorial service at Village Presbyterian Church will be held at a later date. While our family grieves over our devastating loss, we rejoice knowing that she is walking with our Lord, reunited with her husband and "her Lisa", and secure in the life eternal.
