Dear Duckworth Family,
I have been following your family's story on Jacob's CaringBridge site for many months and have been right there with you hoping and praying for complete healing for Jacob. I haven't been on my computer much in the last month and was out of town some, too, so I have just today found out about Jacob's passing. I was so sad to get to his webpage today and read what happened. My heart breaks for your family and I just wanted you to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I am in nursing school right now, and Jacob is one of the reasons I am hoping to become a PICU or pediatric oncology nurse. What a wonderful little boy. He is looking down on your family from heaven now and his beautiful spirit will always be right there beside you. Take good care, Duckworth Family.

Dear Heather, Donnie and Duckworth boys,
I have followed Jacob's story for quite sometime now. I was led to your site from Allie Scott and Sam Eisenberg's sites. Our family had left on vacation the week that Jacob passed, so I didn't find out until this past week. I was so sad to see his site with the news of his passing. I have kept your precious family in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to do so. Please know that Jacob is truly an Angel for so many. He did more for so many people in his six years than most can claim for in a lifetime! Your faith is abolutely amazing to me and it will be a constant blessing in your lives as you will be able to feel and see Jacob's presence on a daily basis. I'm grateful that your family was able to "get away" and relax with each other. I know that it is difficult, but as you stated, "Jacob is always with us." God Bless you and your family. I pray that God will comfort you and help to lead you down the path that he wants you to pursue.

Our deepest condolences on the loss of little Jacob. We wish there were words we could offer to ease your pain. Two years ago, we lost our own son just a month before his 15th birthday. During the weeks and months that followed, it seemed at times that God was nowhere near. We still don't understand why our son had to die, but we do know that God never left us; we were so wrapped in our own despair that we just couldn't see Him. Eventually, the time came that we could begin to live again.

Jacob touched so many lives around the world. He was an inspiration to many and will continue to live in our hearts, never to be forgotten. I will always remember his heart of gold...like the time he wanted to leave the hospital with his pass and go to Toys-r-Us to buy his brothers a gift. That was just a perfect example of Jacob's huge, giving heart. I wish I had known him personally and even had the pleasure of teaching him in my classroom, as he surely would have been a role model to all.

Jacob was truelly a gift to this world and was always an angel and had earned his wings in many ways before he died but his poor body wouldn't let him so god called him home so he can complete his mission of lookign after and caring for his beloved family.

Heather to say how much my heart aches for you and your family would be just too much of an understatement. I've grown to simply adore and cherish your beautiful family. I have followed Jacob's site religiously for so long that on that dreadful day that a family wrote instead of you, I lost many breaths. It must truly seem a bit odd, that so many people from across the world feel so deeply about you, your family and most of all sweet Jacob. You gave so much of yourself to keep us all updated. The raw pain, the joyous recoveries and everything in between. Our religious backgrounds certainly are different, but I genuinely found comfort in knowing your faith was such a mighty one. When I shared the news with Sam, he took it really to heart. He's asked many, many questions about life, death and heaven over the past week as a result. By opening your lives to all of us, do you even realize what we've all gained? Probably not, but just know Jacob was and will always be someone I consider a miracle. I will miss him dearly as I know so many will. If you feel compelled, please keep writing. We would miss your words and your spirit if you didn't. Hello to the Duckworth family and their extended family. I have checked on Jacob's site several times in this past week. Heather, you have such a gift with words. I think you are helping many people, by journaling and I hope that it helps you too. I loved the family grouping of the FROG shirts. Today I offered prayers for all of you, that you can just get through this day and deal with tomorrow when it comes. Jacob must have been "amazed" at the number of balloons going up to heaven this past Saturday.Remembering you in prayer for peace and comfort and that the "heeby jeebies" will subside. The Duckworth family has been in my thoughts and daily prayers for so long now. I will continue to pray for strength and direction! Just reading through this guestbook shows me what an incredible impact Jacob had on so many people who only knew him through the internet and I am one of them. The lives of Jacob and other children who have battled cancer have made me so much more aware of childhood cancers and the need to find a cure. In the past year I have donated money and also committed to being on the bone marrow donor list because of Jacob! He did so much good in his short 6 years and especially in the last 28 months. I know you are very proud of him as you should be.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Jacob is safe with Jesus. In his brief six years on earth, he has touched hearts and minds from one end of this country to another and in several other countries. It has been a blessing to have followed Jacob's journey through his CaringBridge site.

What an amazing family, full of faith and love! Your strength is as amazing as Jacob! I pray for you and your boys. I wish you future strength and happiness and you will get through this. God is good. He has his arms tightly around your very special Jacob and know that he is free from pain and is happy despite his earthly absense from you. Know that he is with you in spirit. Jacob touched more hearts and minds in his 6 years of life than many people can hope to touch in a lifetime. He was truly amazing! My thoughts are with all of you as you learn to walk without Jacob on Earth. Brandon, Devin and Kyle have an angel brother now, although he was often that on Earth.
