GOLDSCHMIDT, James 80, of Redington Beach, Florida, passed away May 28, 2023, in Florida after an extended illness. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on Sept. 10, 1942. He cherished his marriage to Mary Alice Ross from 1969 until her passing. He married Sharon Powers DeBrosse in 1992 and they enjoyed 31 years of marriage. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; his four children, Lisa Fair (Ted), Jim (Kelly), Ron DeBrosse (Jennifer), and Kathleen Rose (Tony); seven grandchildren; 10 great-nieces and nephews, for whom he acted as an extra grandfather; siblings, Carl and Carolyn; and many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jim went to St. Anthony's Catholic School and Chaminade High School, from which he graduated in 1960. He attended the University of Dayton and graduated with a chemical engineering degree in 1965. Jim had a very successful career in chemical engineering, sales, and management. He served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Chemical Corps before embarking on a three-decade career in private industry. Uncle Jim was so extremely intelligent and such a wonderful human being. He, Aunt Carolyn and Dad didn´t have the easiest youth, and they still prevailed as adults. I have always admired the tenacity of the three of them. I loved Uncle Jim´s house on the golf course at the Cardinal. When I was young, I thought it was the coolest house ever. I loved the huge basement and ping pong table. I only visited his and Aunt Sharon´s house in Florida once, but loved it as well. When they lived in Greensboro they were so kind to throw a wedding shower for myself and Jeremy. Aunt Sharon, Lisa and Jimmy, I am thinking about y´all and saying prayers.

Jim was a man of integrity - high character and principled. The world lost one of the good guys. He tried to make the world a better place and was a great human being. God bless his soul and may his family be surrounded in peace!
