James Purgason Obituary

PURGASON, James 77, passed away on June 8, 2011. He retired as head groundskeeper at Gibbs High School. He then later worked at Walmart in St. Petersburg. He is survived by his wife, Norine; step-sons, Richard Gillett, Chicago IL, Roger Gillett, Louisville, MS, and Rodney Gillett, Memphis TN; stepdaughter, Anita Truesdell Chicago, IL; daughter, Millie Wadell, TX; sister-in-law, Patricia Mason, Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Alice Riding (Sherman) Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Kenneth (Virginia) Purgason, Spartanburg, SC, David (Helen) Purgason, Orlando, and Henry Purgason, Texas; special friend, Marla Haynes, St. Petersburg; many grandchildren; great-grand- children; nieces; and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Woodside. Memorial Park Funeral Home 727-527-1196

norine and family.
i was sorry to hear about james alway a gentleman i will miss seeing him at walmart.

Norine, Sorry for your loss. I worked with James at Walmart in the Garden Department and he was very knowledgable and very helpful to me. Always a gentleman. I will miss seeing him at Walmart. Rest in peace, James.

You have always been an inspiration to me. The way you put others first and modestly felt that this was the way to do things. You and Aunt Norine picked up and move to Florida and carved yourselves a new life in a place you wanted to be. Most people only talk doing that but you were a doer not just a dreamer.

I hope there is a cold “Old Style” waiting for you in heaven.
