James Marshall Obituary

MARSHALL, James T. Marshall "Jim", 80, of New Port Richey died January 25, 2003 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Born In Pittsburgh, Pa. Jim moved to New Port Richey in 1983 from Annandale, Va. As Aprofessional musician, in his 20's he played trombone with Ziggy Elman and Bobby Sherwood, He Served in the Army at Newport News, Va., with the 379th A.S.F(Army Service Forces) Band from February 1943 to March1946. He also worked for the Department of Army from 1955 to December 1982 continuing his music as an avocation until November 2002. During this period he played with the Gene Donati Orchestra at many social events in Washington ,D.C. including inaugural balls, at the White House, and has backed up Frank Sinatra and Pearl Bailey among others. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Maureen Marshall ofNew Port Richey; two daughters, Jan Pfeifer, Santa Barbara, Calif., Donna Marshall, Silver Strand, Calif.; a stepson, Michael Beman, Rockford, Ill.; sister, Marilyn Keppel of Laguna Woods, Calif.; brother, Philip Ray, Annapolis, Md.; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, two step granddaughters, and three step great-grandchildren.
