Jane WHITESIDE Obituary
90, of Tampa, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 4, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Oklahoma City, Jane attended Smith College and completed her bachelor's degree at the Univ. of Okla. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Whiteside, and is survived by her beloved children, Carolyn Robles, Ruia Gonzalez (Joe), William Whiteside, Laura Whiteside, and John Whiteside (Debbie); 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She taught for Hillsborough Schools and after retiring was active in USF's Learning in Retirement and was a member of her church since 1966. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chamberlain High Jane Whiteside Literary Lover Scholarship, 9401 N. Blvd. Tampa 33612. A viewing is at 2 pm Sunday, Nov. 8, at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 W. Fletcher Ave. Tampa, with services to follow at 3 pm. More information is available at:

On behalf of my family I send my condolences to the Whitesides.We have had the oportunity to Know Jane and her children who are her legacy and what a great legacy she has left.In addition to her children she has touched so many lives,he students friend and extended family.She was such a warm and kind soul.I will miss her greeting us with her big beautiful smile.She was wa woman who was ahead of her time, so forward thinking.Condolences to all that loved her. She will be missed. She did raise not only her children but a lot of Children at CHS. I am so sorry for Laura, Ruia and Bill for their loss and will keep them in my prayers for healing. God Bless you all.

Mrs. Whiteside was my homeroom teacher at Chamberlain for 3 years. The CHS Class of '65 invited her to our 50th Reunion this month and was so sorry she could not come. Rest in peace. Prayers go out to your family.
