My wife and I are stunned to learn of the passing of Dr. Jay Friedman. He was first a wonderful human being, secondly he was dedicated to serving and taking care of his patients, thirdly he contributed so much to the development of pioneering treatment of prostate cancer. Both the man and his contributions to the field of medicine will be greatly missed.

I have been a patient of Dr. Jay's since Sept, '94. I was one of his earliest seed patients at Moffitt. With all due respect to Dr. Pow-Sang, who is an outstanding doctor in his own right & partnered in the implant, Dr. Jay was the single best doctor of any "stripe" that I have ever had.
When Dr. Jay left Moffitt, I followed him to UCH. When he left UCH, I followed him to Naples. I just loved the man and all he stood for & represented.
His passing was a huge shock as I just had my annual with him last Oct, and he looked the picture of health. He told me then what he had gone thru & was still going thru.
I will miss him dearly not just for his doctoring skills but also for his compassion & humanity.

I was sadden today to learn of Dr. Jays' passing. My heart felt condolence go out to his family and friends.
Dr. Jay cured me of prostate cancer and I attribute that to his positive mental attitude. I only wish God would have allowed him to stay around longer.

Many years ago Dr. Friedland came to Austin to help us set up our implant program. I remember how nice he was to work with. He really went out of his way to help us. It is so tragic for him to die this young.
My prayers for his familly.

Jay Friedland Saved My Life 2 times from two separate Cancers, 1 by external beam, 1 by seeds.
Greater than these two gifts was the inexpressable joy of knowing him as a dear Yoga, Healing Circle, and Hiking Friend.
Jay had a Great Soul,
Brilliance, and a Loving, Loving Heart.
All is Well, and So it is.

To the Family of Dr Jay Friedland,
Our sincere condolences to you on the loss of Jay a kind and caring doctor to all. He graced us with his presence on several occasions to speak about his updated treatments for Prostate Cancer. He traveled each time clear across the State to attend our meeting in order to share his knowledge with us survivors so we could always be aware of what was currently available to us. We will dearly miss his talks with us. May God Ever Hold Him in the Hollow of His Hand.

Dear Vanessa...and Friedland Family,
I cannot tell you how shocked I was to learn of Jay's passing. Tears are falling for your huge loss. Jay is the best doctor and friend that this world has ever known. He treated my Dad and my husband at the same time and became our friend. He was also instrumental in getting treatment for me for breast cancer. The three of us are survivors because of him, our treatment and blessings from above. May you find comfort in the coming days knowing how respected and loved he is to so many. Love and hugs, Joy & Buz Fowler and Bill & Wilma Brown

Nearly twelve years ago, my husband, Clark and I met Jay at H. Lee Moffett Cancer Research Center. We had gone through a one-year rough time with Clark's prostate cancer before we 'found' Jay.
Jay immediately put us at ease with his wonderful bedside manner, honesty and especially the hope he gave us.
Clark was one of Jay's first patients with a new procedure and am happy to say, is doing just great today.
Jay didn't just 'go on to the next patient'. Somehow, Jay managed to find time to keep in touch with us, becoming one of those treasured friends you always hope to have.
Jay was just a phone call or email away - and he always answered.
Jay wasn't just a physician, he was truly an extraordinary doctor, a very caring man, and a wonderful friend who will be greatly missed.
This remarkable man is what Clark calls 'the best doctor and friend in the world'.
Our sincerest sympathies go out to his family and friends.
