Jean KILGORE Obituary

KILGORE, Jean passed away on May 23, 2023, after a struggle with cancer and complications. Jean was 77 years old. Even though Jean was taken from this world and our care, she leaves a passionate legacy of selfless love for family and friends; a positive and optimistic attitude which made her a favorite for those who knew her. She was a "can do" person-- accomplishing much in her life. Jean was married to her life-long love, Bobby Kilgore. They enjoyed 54 years of happiness together, raising two special daughters, Stacey and Amy. She graduated from Hillsborough High School and eventually found herself working with her love for plants and flowers, which she said "made the world a better place." She owned a floral shop on Dale Mabry for several years, later trading it for a plant nursery. Jean and Bobby spent many happy years growing, giving and selling their own plants. Jean is also survived by her five grandchildren, Sara, Meagan, Tyler, Abbey and Brittany, as well as two great-grandchildren, Zayne and Delilah. Jean's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 17, at Seminole Heights United Methodist Church located at 6111 N. Central Ave., Tampa. Visitation will be held with the family from 1-2 pm. The service begins at 2 pm with the reception to follow in the church's Allen Hall. Flowers are welcome at the church on Friday and Saturday morning. Flowers can be arranged through Stunning Flowers by Shelbie; Ph: 813-875-1106

I remember Mrs. Kilgore when I was kid growing in the Voices of Wellswood program. She worked worked with my mom for many years. As a kid I remember her having beautiful handwriting and she could cook. She was a wonderful host when it came to having parties at her house. I will miss her fried orca, spaghetti and grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches she would make for us during our summer program. You had an impact in our lives and the community. You will be missed.

Dear Jean,
You will be missed!
You will be missed by, not only your wonderful loving husband Bob and your family, but also by your community as well as your fellow officers of the Wellswood Civic Association which you served during the 1990´s and well into 2016. I certainly appreciated all the precious time and effort you and Bob donated to our meetings and events; The Spaghetti Dinners (your favorite...your `great sauce´), the Flea Mkt´s, the Barbeques, the Haunted Houses, the Fashion shows--- where Bob moved and rearranged that huge stage to form the runway for our own Wellswood models, The Christmas Family Breakfast with Santa, the Ice Cream Socials, the USF twice/year Clean-up Days; plus the variety of special events like the Flag Day Event, the past presidents events, A Taste of Welllswood and its many Cultures, and so many more. We worked hard, we fought, as friends often do, but there was much goodwill, we had fun and furthered our neighborhood. You were part of maintaining `The Wellswood Way of Life´ and kept Wellswood a great community for our thriving families. Thank you Jean and Bob Kilgore for your service to the Wellswood community. It was a pleasure being a part of those years of fellowship with you both at the Civic Center.
I will miss you, rest in peace Jean.

I met Jean and her family at the Wellswood Civic Center 24 years ago! She was a hard worker who always wanted to help others. During the years of the 'Voices of Wellswood' children's program, Jean worked tirelessly to make sure everything was beautiful and in order. She loved arts and crafts! She was simply amazing! Every December, around her birthday, she would prepare a feast at her home and invite friends and family! Jean was blessed to have her husband at her side all the time! It was Bob and Jean, a devoted, loyal and committed couple. Jean will be missed.
