Jo Kent Obituary

Kent, Jo Ann

97, of Tampa, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at home.

Jo Ann (McCoy) was born on July 27, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Florence McCoy and later moved to Indianola, Iowa. Jo Ann attended Simpson College and met her future husband, Harold L. Kent, while playing golf. She married Harold in August 1948, and they moved to Tampa, Florida in 1949. Business ventures led Harold and Jo Ann to move to Lutz, Florida, where they raised their family.

Jo Ann was a devout Christian and taught the Explorer's Bible Study for many years. Jo Ann traveled with Harold throughout the world sharing the gospel. With their outreaches to Israel and India, many came to experience the Christian life. Jo Ann was a founding board member of Galcom International, USA.

Those left behind to honor her memory include her children, Michael (Gail) Kent of Franklin, North Carolina, Patricia (David) Walker of Lutz, Florida, Susan (Robert) Nelson of Lutz, Fl, and as she was affectionately known as Grammy or Gram to her eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and their son, Steven Kent.

A memorial service will be held on August 30, 2025, at 10:30 am at Bay Hope Church, 17030 Lakeshore Rd., Lutz, Florida, 33558.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to Galcom International, USA, P.O. Box 270956, Tampa, FL 33688, a ministry furthering the gospel throughout the world.
