I met Joe when our family moved from NYC to Tampa in 2015. He cut our grass at a rental for a little over two years. We spoke a lot about basketball and I had the chance to see him play in an adult rec league in Clearwater. I drove him back to Tampa after the game and during our ride we talked more basketball and about hitting the floor to shoot around. We never got around to playing, but we often spoke. Joe was cool and will be missed. He was my friend here in Tampa. Condolences to his family and may he R.I.P.

I was Joe’s assistant basketball coach at the University of Tampa. I have very fond memories of Joe. I used to take him home after practice and we had some great talks on our rides home together. Joe was always polite and courteous to mebeing a female assistant this meant the world to me. Joe treated me with respect and trusted my coaching advice. Joe was kind, caring and a great teammate. Prayers for his family and may God watch over them during this trying time.

I met Joe Jackson on Kunsan Air Base in South Korea in 1995. We have been friends since that day. He was a great guy. I already miss our conversations. A few months ago, he announced that he would be calling me Sherron from now on. That is what I heard every time I answered a call from him. Most of my family never met him but they knew who he was. We will love you and miss you always. Love, Angela (Sherron), Maggie Murphy, Nia, Ian, and Nai.

My heart feels heavy for all that Joe left behind, though I know he is now an angel, a protector of all of us here. Joe watched out for me, he made me think about life, he made me laugh, and he helped me. If everyone had a heart like Joe’s, the world would be a better place! I will miss seeing him in the neighborhood, I will miss the conversations, and I will miss his smile. Godspeed Joe, you are loved.

Family,
I'm usually the one that have all the right things to say, but today I find this task to be very difficult for me. Joey was my little cousin/brother all in one. Too many memories of us growing up at grandma Jannie B on the "Back 40" of the Patt Quarters in the Historic Community of Royal.
Lord knows that I loved him and surely will miss my Cuz. I love you family! -Your cousin Maxwell
