John BEDRON Obituary

BEDRON, John 65, of Clearwater, passed away peacefully, after a hard fought battle with cancer, on June 26, 2012. His loving partner, Vicki Campo, closest family, and friends were at his side. John was born in Queens, NY Dec. 10, 1946. He worked for New York City Dept. of corrections for over 20 years, and spent a good part of that time on Rykers Island as a Deputy Warden before retiring in 1992. He then moved to Florida and worked for The Pinellas County School system in transportation for 15 years before retiring in 2010. His interests included anything New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays and his passion for his Homeowner's association where he was the Treasurer. For those who were fortunate to really know John, the pretense of a crusty no nonsense person would give way to a man who embraced life and was very supportive and helpful to those in need. In the last few years, his greatest joy was spending time with his extended family. He loved all his grandchildren and enjoyed every minute spending time with them. John will be missed by many, and will never be forgotten. He is survived by his loving family and friends.

I can't believe it's been a week already since you left us. I have thought of you everyday and have so many things I wanted to say to you. You told me once that you were sorry you couldn't keep your promise to David about taking care of Vickie and I for him, but you DID John, and you still are. David I'm sure has told you how proud he is of you. This has been so hard on Vickie, but rest assured that I will take care of her for you. We WILL all be together again one day, until then know that you are loved and missed everyday.

I'm grateful to have known John since childhood and then to have been with him twice again in the last year, after so many years had gone by. He was always a guy you could count on, and he will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace John...

I'm sorry I haven't been on here sooner John, but I guess I just wasn't ready to accept you were really gone. I sat at the kitchen table yesterday and cried thinking about how you use to come over on Saturday mornings and bring me a bagle and our weekly going out to eat (the three of us). It's very hard for me to put into words how much you meant to me. Not only were you my "brother-in-law" but you were my go to guy for any help I may have needed. Thank you for being part of our family and our lives. I truly hope you know how much WE ALL loved and respected you, especially Vickie. She is lost without you. The kids lost a very LOVING "Grandfather" and I lost a best friend. I will miss so much about you, but I know you are in a good place with the Lord. You may be gone but you will NEVER be forgotten. I love you John and I will ALWAYS be your #2.

I grew up around the conner from John, I know him since he was a kid. We were apart for over 40 years, and when I spoke to him it was like we just spoke yesterday. John was a true friend who would do anything for you. He will be truly missed and the Carvel Gang from all over just got a little smaller, with the loss an important member. He will always be in our hearts and in our memories and whenever we get together he will always be a part of the conversation. May God have mercy on his soul.

It's hard to believe I won't get to hear another dirty joke from you John. You always brought me smiles & laughter in the many years we did car shows together & then I got to be your Fan Host at the Rays. Thanks for the memories.

We will truly miss John. We've kept in touch all these years and am so glad that we did. He was a true friend till the end and fought bravely to beat his illness. He was too young to have been taken away from all his family and friends. Till we meet again.

John was an amazing man and I could not have asked for a greater step-dad. He was always there for me and my boys and would do anything he could to help us out. I never had to worry about my mom, knowing she was with him and would forever be loved and taken care of. Rest in Peace and we will meet again....

John was certainly one of a kind. He never said no to a friend or a stranger. Although I have not seen John since his move to Florida I have still always considered him a good friend. I consider myself fortunate to have at least spoken to him over the last few months, he was a fighter til the end. It is a sad time for all who knew him and loved him. Rest in Peace John.

I've known John since HS and I have the greatest memories of those times. I'm very glad I got to see John when I was visiting Tampa. We spent the day together remembering the old times and catching up with the present. I'll miss John and the emails I use to get daily from him. John, you will be missed and I can't believe your gone. Rest in Peace.
