John WILCOX

WILCOX, John W. 77, of Tampa, FL, passed away August 31, 2022. He was born in Long Beach, CA, on February 6, 1945, to John and Frances Wilcox, and he grew up in Atlanta, GA. He obtained his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor from the Univer sity of Florida, and was a member of Florida Blue Key. John served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve after 24 years of service. John began his legal career in Atlanta, GA, with the EPA. He then moved to Florida in 1981, where he practiced law for 40 years. He was involved in the Hillsborough County Bar Association, North Tampa Bar Association, and Rotary Club. He gave back to his profession in countless ways, and was a mentor to many attorneys along the way. John loved golf, soccer, and the Florida Gators. John was a man of faith, and had endless love for his family. A devoted father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, John Wilcox (Nellie), Elisabeth Marte (Elvin) and Benjamin Wilcox; step-daughter, Alexis Fruge' (Jason Isaac); and eight grandchildren, Hannah, Aiden and Lukas Wilcox, Liam and Elisa Marte, Austin Wilcox, and Evan and Claire Isaac. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Wilcox; and his brother, Murray Wilcox. A memorial service will be held from 1-1:30 pm, September 17, 2022, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home- Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa, FL, 33618, followed by a reception from 1:30-3 pm.
