Joshua SANTOSTEFANO Obituary

SANTOSTEFANO, Joshua left this life on Aug. 11, 2014. Josh loved life and lived every moment in full. He appreciated nature's beauty and loved spending time paddling his kayak through the mangroves. A talented guitarist and pianist, he enjoyed sharing his love of music with others. Josh was spiritual and thought deeply about life and its meaning. He had a contagious smile, an infectious sense of humor, and was kind, sensitive, and generous to all family, friends, and strangers. He was a special light and it was impossible to resist his Peter Pan glow. If you spent even a few moments in his company, he touched your life forever. Josh was predeceased by his mother, Kellyanne. He is survived by his father, Brian; his brother, Joseph; and his sister, Sara. Also surviving are his grandparents, Frank and Mildred Diaz, Ben and Judy Santostefano, and Al and Darlyn Smith; his aunts, Christy Curran and Joanne Smith; his uncles, Bennie Santostefano, Patrick Smith, and Fran Curran; and his cousins, Lesley Curran, Brandi Costa, Jessi Huckabone, Jared Smith, and Chelsi Smith. A funeral service will be 2pm Saturday, Aug. 16 at Keene Terrace Baptist Church, Largo. Visitation will be 6-8pm Friday, Aug. 15 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd. Clearwater 33759. www.sylvanabbey.com

I was thinking of Josh today, how my sons are missing him so terribly, and I just had to go on this site to see this face. My son, Jonny, just mentioned Josh on Easter Sunday; Chris could not speak when he heard his name. We do not understand losses like this, but I know that his beloved mother is holding him in her arms. My sons will never understand this loss and there is nothing I can say to help them. Chris still breaks down in heaving tears from losing his best friend. Pain is a river deep and wide.

We were neighbors to the Santostefanos for years. The loss of Kelly and then Josh creates such terrible sorrow.

I just learned of this incredible loss today, my heart is broken for all of you left behind. I have such beautiful memories of Josh and his amazing mom as they were my neighbors on Burnice Drive. I remember the high energy of Josh as a little boy, who would come over to play at the house with my girls. How happy a time and I was so happy when Brian came into their lives, such a beautiful family that continued to grow. How special that Kelly and her first born are together again, but that doesn't help the loss that the rest of the family must be feeling at this time. Please know Brian that we at the Cyr house also mourn your loss, our hearts break with you and we send our love to surround you all during this difficult impossible time. I will always remember Josh and his infectious laugh and the great times when he was so small but lived life so big even at such a young age. I am sure he and Kelly are having a blast being together again. Love to all of you. Vicki, Bob, Meagan, Amber, Gregory and Katherine Cyr (Clearwater)

I am sorry for your loss. Josh is a beautiful soul. Sometimes there are people who come into a persons life and make you a better person by demonstrating certain stand out qualities. Josh demonstrated qualities of peace, calm and gentleness. I have learned from Josh and I'm certain many others have also. Thank you Josh. Peace and Love

I met Josh last December at a Festival. I was 52 to his 24 years, a mother mourning the departure of my 16 year old son. Josh was incredibly nice to me regardless of our different stages of life, he was uniquely full of life.
Upon my return I commented to my daughters about this magical kid I had encountered who was full of joy. I loved watching him dance he just inhaled the music his eyes were so full of happiness when he was listening to it; but even more magical was the incredibly sensitive way that he played his steel guitar. I'm so sorry that I didn't jam with him when he asked me to ... I wouldn't cause I thought he was just too good. He was humble enough not too care and I will always regret not having played with him.
A life like this doesn't go away, it gets shared by all who loved him and they will carry on his gifts. Josh is eternally special and loved.

There are no words to express how sorry we are for this loss. We love Josh. Matt and I were just talking about him a couple of weeks ago and how he was Matt's stability and that Josh loved him not matter what Matt was going through. That and the fact that Kelly used to say that Matt and Josh acted like and old married couple. We love you all and will keep you in our prayers.

Millie and Frank and Family. I am so sorry for the loss of Josh. His life was ended too soon before he had a chance to reach his potential as the wonderful man he was to be. I only met him once but I could tell then he had a gentle soul. I could see from the gallery of photos that he was certainly loved by all.

I love you forever sweet soul.Always something funny and clever out of your mouth. I wen't to highschool with Josh and we've remained close friends since.Such a beautiful, adventurous, accepting person. Every time i saw josh he was singing a song and showing me something new on guitar. He had so much love for his Grams and always spoke so sweetly of her. I will always keep your spirit alive.

Josh, rest in peace. Thanks so much for coming to visit us at Forest Lakes, and especially for coming to entertain my students with your beautiful guitar playing! Your love of music was obvious, as was your kind spirit. Now you can share that love with mom and all the great musicians that have gone before you. Pray for us, and may your memory be eternal! My condolences to the family, especially my former students Joey and Sarah.... Joanne H. Kambouris, Music Teacher, Forest Lakes Elementary

I was there the year he helped with the baskets for the auction and I can remember how sweet he was. I could tell he and Millie, his grandmother, had a special bond. Blessed is his soul now in heaven.

Josh, you are a wonderful and talented young man, many times I wished you could have met my son as you two were so alike. You are now in your mothers arms in heaven. God bless you both, much love and condolences to the family that has lost your presence in their world, not to worry you will all be together again one day, the love never dies or goes away. Much love, anonymous
