Caufman, Judith Elaine

85, of Largo, FL, passed away on September 12, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lima, Ohio on March 14, 1940 to Donald and Virginia Tawney. Judy attended The Ohio State University where she played on the golf team before marrying Marvin Caufman in 1962 and forming a lifelong partnership based on love and mutual respect. Judy and Marvin moved to Florida in 1966 to continue their life together in a fairer climate. Judy earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Exceptional Education from the University of South Florida. She spent more than 20 years as an educator in the Pinellas County School System before retiring as Principal of the Paul B. Stephens School in Clearwater and hosted end of the year parties for staff by popular demand. She enjoyed vacations in Maggie Valley, NC., shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Marvin Caufman; sons Tom Caufman (Patricia) and Trevor Caufman; granddaughters Megan Caufman and Myah Caufman; brother Mark Tawney (Edwina) of Broadview Heights, Ohio, daughter-in-law Tara Caufman and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on October 24, 2025 at 1 pm at Prince of Peace Church, 455 Missouri Avenue, Largo, FL where Judy was a member for over 50 years.
