Highsmith, Julia F. "Julie" (Stalnaker)

90, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in High Springs, Florida. Julie was born and raised in Tampa, Florida the daughter of William E. Stalnaker Sr. and Bertha Pia Stalnaker. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Jayne) Highsmith, of Milton, Delaware and Kirk (Jessica) Highsmith, of Archer, Florida, and she is the beloved grandmother of Ian, Parker, Harrison and Samuel.

Julie lived an adventurous and dedicated life, as the spouse of the late Major George M. Highsmith, U.S. Army (1999). The family's service led to many posts across the United States and in Germany and South Korea. She raised Stephen and Kirk with optimism as her husband and their father served in Vietnam.

A woman of faith and hard work, Julie also served others outside the home in various occupations, including providing meals to needy persons. She is remembered as kind, selfless and resilient. She enjoyed exercising, sunshine, decorating their home with mementos of their travels, and the Beatles.

A private service will take place at St. Madeleine Catholic Church in High Springs, Florida. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, where Julie will join her late husband.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to St. Madeleine Catholic Church, 17155 NW US Hwy 441, High Springs, Florida 32643 or to St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 17512 Lakeshore Rd,, Lutz, Florida 33558.
