Kevin Walsh Obituary

WALSH, Kevin, age 54, born in Cleveland, Ohio, loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, and grand- father, passed into new life on Thursday, November 13, 2003. He leaves behind his loving wife, Peg (Margaret); daughter Kimberly, son-in-law Christopher, daughter-in-law, Mandy; sisters, Kathy and Karolyn; grandchildren, Kevin, Aaron, Brendan, Kylie, Caitlyn, and Alexa; sisters-in-law, Eileen, Sharon, Mary, Evelyn, Catherine, Gloria, Shari, Maryann, Marie, and Sandy; brothers-in-law, Drew, Dan, Dennis, Mark, Jack, and David; and his canine pal, Mugsy. Kevin was preceded in death by his son, Kevin, and parents, Joe and Helen. He leaves behind numerous friends, not only in Cleveland, Ohio, but in his new home of Tampa, where he lived the past seven years. He was diagnosed with cancer 2-1/2 years ago. Because of an amazing attitude and acceptance of his disease, Kevin far outlived his prognosis and inspired those who provided his care. He always said he was the "luckiest guy in the world" because his life was filled with so much love. Kevin enjoyed life, good food, dancing, rock and roll music, being Irish, and cheering the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But most of all, he loved his wife and family. With a remarkable sense of humor, Kevin always found a reason to laugh and made others laugh, too. Even in the final stage of cancer, whenever he woke from sleep, he opened his eyes, smiled, and thanked God that he was still here, His prayer was, "God grant me just 15 more minutes with my Peg." Family will receive friends at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, West Hillsborough Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Drive 814-4444, Saturday, November 15, 2003, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice of Tampa, 3010 W. Azeele Street, Tampa, FL 33609.

Kevin was my brother in law for 34 years. I was with Peg when we cruised through Manners Big Boy and Kevin spotted her. I gave Kevin her phone number when Peg wasn't looking because she was too shy. Kevin thanked me so many times over the years for that phone number...and for helping him find the love of his life.

He was the kindest, most loving man I have ever met. Our lives will never be the same. I will miss you buddy...

When I worked with Peggy, I would continually marvel at the depth of the love she and Kevin had for one another. I remember her when we discussed a business trip that she and Kevin had never spent a night apart since they were married! Peggy, you and your family are in our hearts and prayers at this difficult time. I hope that your happy memories will always be with you.

Love,

Laura

Kevin was not only my brother-in-law for the last 30 years, but also my friend. He was one of the most positive people I've ever met. He helped me realize that my troubled life, over the last few years, could be just an opening to bigger and better things. He was very kind and giving. His unconditional love for his wife Peg and his family was surely an inspiration to us all.

I don't think that I have ever met a kinder, gentler soul than Kevin. He truly "lived" with his cancer. It was amazing how he outlived his prognosis, but even more so, how he did it with such grace and dignity. There was always a smile on his face and in his heart for everyone. I will miss our talks of food and football. I am honored that he made me a part of his life. He taught me so much, but he showed me just how strong the human spirit can be. Thanks for coming into my life and I will miss you buddy.

Kevin was a wonderful man, so thoughtful and caring. All of the special things he did for "His Peg", will never be forgotten. Like the singing quartet at work. He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.

All of our love is with you Mama Peg.
