Kim Chandler-Hutson Obituary

CHANDLER-HUTSON, Kim C., 53, of Tampa, died Monday, October 13, 2008, at the home of a close friend in Killingly, Conn., after battling breast cancer for 18 years. She was born June 13, 1955, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, Conn., the daughter of Ruth and the late Stanley Chandler of Danielson. A graduate of Killingly High School class of 1973, Kim attended Central Connecticut State University and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Kim was the 1973 Springtime Festival Queen and Miss New Britain in 1975. She competed in the 1975 Miss Connecticut pageant. Kim enjoyed the outdoors, hiking in the White Mountains, days on the beach and spending time with friends and family. She taught Sunday school for many years and was actively involved in Christian women' s ministries. Kim worked in the computer industry for more than 20 years as a marketing director with Wang, Digital, Apple, and Tech Data. She is survived by her husband, Bill; stepsons, William and Stephen of Tampa; brothers, Stanley Chandler Jr. of Melrose, Conn., David Chandler of West Milford, N.J., and Kenneth Chandler of Sterling, Conn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 1, at Idlewild Baptist Church, 18371 N. Dale Mabry Highway, Lutz, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kim' s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. Kim' s family would also like to express their gratitude to Dr. Susan Minton and her staff and all those who provided care and treatment during her illness.
