Maria Mastrantonio Obituary

Mastrantonio, Maria

96, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024. Born on February 6, 1928 in Calabria Italy, she was the beloved daughter of Carmine and Angela Affortunato.

Maria came to the United States in the early 1950s with her daughter Tina and husband Antonio, arriving in Ellis Island, NY. They settled in New York City with assistance from her local brothers and worked various roles for the church until moving to St. Petersburg, FL in 1982.She worked as a housekeeper while simultaneously taking care of her home and grandchild when her daughter worked. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed sewing, knitting and spending time with her family.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Angela and Carmine; her husband, Antonio; her brothers, Luigi, Antonio, and Frank; and her daughter, Tina. She leaves behind a loving family including two brothers, Vincenzo and Giuseppe; her grandson, Chris and wife, Sarah, and two cherished great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews along with neighbors who regarded her (mutually) as family.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church on January 4, 2024 at 11 am, followed by placement at the gravesite at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 1 pm. A reception and celebration of life will follow, where family and friends are invited to gather to remember and celebrate her legacy.
