Marie Hobson

HOBSON, Marie (nee Voss) daughter of Carl and Freda Voss of Milwaukee, WI died on Feb. 24, 2012 at Pinecrest Place in Largo. She was 99. She graduated from Marquette University's School of Dentistry in Dental Hygiene. She worked for the Wauwatosa school system and later for Dr. Aubrey Hobson, a widower with two daughters, Elizabeth and Judith. She married Aubrey in 1936 and lived in Whitefish Bay. Marie was very active in Epiphany Lutheran church as well as many other organizations. In the 1950s they moved to the West side of Milwaukee and built two cabins in northern Wisconsin where they enjoyed many summers with family and friends. Marie enjoyed traveling and she and Aubrey took many trips throughout the U.S., Europe, Mexico and the far East. After Aubrey's retirement, they moved to Clearwater. They enjoyed golf and Marie remained active in church work, women's and bridge club activities, and Red Hats. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Edward and Carl and her husband. Survivors include children, Elizabeth Heermans (Tom), Judith Wellman (Maynard); 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grand children; 3 great-great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on March 20, 2012 at 1 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 455 Missouri Ave, Largo. Visitation at the church from 12 noon until time of service. The family would like to thank the Suncoast Hospice, the Memory Care Unit and the staff at Pinecrest Place for their kind and compassionate care.
