Martha SWEET Obituary

SWEET, Martha G., 85, formerly of Washington, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Tampa, Florida where she had lived since 1984. She is the mother of Troy George Breese of Washington, Penna, and Meredith Artis Anthony of New York City. She has two stepchildren, David Sweet of Harrisburg, Penna, and Barbara G Sweet of Washington, DC. Her grandson, Ryan Breese lives in Washington, Penna. She was an executive with McGraw-Edison, and was one of the company's first woman executives. A life-long championship bridge player, she achieved the rank of Life Master. In 1984, she and her husband, Judge Charles G. Sweet retired and moved to Tampa where they founded Paralegal Careers, Inc., a school for paralegals. Martha handled the management and staff issues while Charles served as President and Dean. Martha is featured in the 2008 book, A Place Called Canterbury, written by her close friend, Dudley Clendinen. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at Piatt Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Canterbury Towers, 3501 Bayshore Blvd., Tampa, Florida 33629.
