Michael BOLEN Obituary

BOLEN, Michael C.

14, of Media, PA, passed away from seizure complications on April 16, 2016 at A.I. Dupont Children's Hospital. Born in Clearwater, he recently relocated to Media, PA, and attended the Delaware County Intermediate Unit. While Michael had a severe form of autism and was nonverbal, he was an amazing kid who charmed everyone that was fortunate enough to know him. His favorite thing to do was to snuggle with his Dad while snacking and watching movies, or playing on his iPad. He also enjoyed puzzles, swimming, and surfing. He is survived by his loving parents, Chad and Leslie (Ferko) Bolen; a brother, Jacob Bolen; a sister, Rachel Bolen; paternal grandmother, Mary Bolen (Moeller); his maternal grandmother, Joan Ferko (McKinley). He will be joining both his paternal grandfather, Michael Bolen, and maternal grandfather, Donald Ferko, in heaven. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, 3 pm at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, PA where friends may call from 1-3 pm. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, because the following charities are doing important work to help prevent or control seizures, donations can be made to: Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (www.cureepilepsy.org), or the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (www.norml.org). Not sure what to say?

September 15, 2016

Hello,
I just read the story of your son on a website and it literally stopped me in my tracks. I had a magnificent son, Evan, who died from seizure complications, at the age of 9 1/2. While he was developmentally challenged and would most likely have never had a "normal" life, he did not have autism. He was, like Michael, a loving and incredibly beautiful child. This happened in 1985 and the events of that day are with me like it happened yesterday. I wanted to offer you and your family my deepest and sincerest condolences at this time. Michael was lucky to have you and your family in his life as Evan was to have us. May your memories of him be a blessing to you always. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
