Michael DeBatt Obituary

DeBATT, Michael R., 55, of Schenectady, N.Y., and a winter resident of Zephyrhills, passed away January 20, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Janet B. (Tonge) DeBatt; a son, Christopher DeBatt; a daughter, Caryn Slocum; a granddaughter; a sister, Kathryn Byers; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. DeBatt was born July 3, 1950, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Robert and Mary (Kalenak) DeBatt. He received bachelor's and master's degrees, then went on to receive his Master of Business Administration degree. Mr. DeBatt served in ROTC 1968-1972, then entered the U.S. Air Force and served as a radar navigator with the 28 Bomb Squadron during the Vietnam War. In Albany, N.Y., he was a stock broker and branch manager for Morgan-Stanley Dean Witter. In 1995 and 1996, he was the senator from Lincoln in the Rhode Island State Assembly. He was a lay reader and choir member at Christ Episcopal Church in Lincoln and had been a lay reader at St. Martin's in Pawtucket. Mr. DeBatt also enjoyed golfing. Funeral s ervices will take place January 27 at Darlington Mortuary in Pawtucket. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston, R.I. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hernando- Pasco Hospice, 37439 Clinton Ave., Dade City, FL 33542.
