I knew Mike Potts from Michigan State- I fought in the Judo club, Mike, of course, was a great wrestler with freakish strength. He was great ambassador for the Spartans. He was incredibly strong and very funny! I was so happy to have known him and sorry to read of his passing! Condolences to the kids and family.

I am so sad to hear about Mike's passing! He truly was a gentle giant who loved his kids fiercely...passionate about his country and work. I've worked with Mike for several years and he used to call and always start his calls "Don't be mad at me"...since it was always some crazy, off the wall insurance question! He was forever trying to protect his clients and his business from the what if moments. He had a larger than life personality and always told it like it is - you never had to question where you stood with him. He will definitely be missed! Sending my condolences to Pilar, his kids and anyone that had the honor of knowing him.

Geez, Pottsy! To say that we were lucky to have you be a part of my life would be an understatement. We were blessed! Since 1980 you have provided me with laughter, political thought, and many, many, memories coaching you at MSU, that I will cherish until my last breath. You made a difference wherever you went and you touched our hearts in ways that will make us smile for years to come. God bless you Pottsy, your family and Pilar, and I'll look you up when I get to the other side. Coach and Carol Milkovich

The Dudleys in East Lansing all love Mike so much! Brooke, Michael, and Kayla, your dad was just busting with love and pride for you! His love and care for you was obvious. He was so loving and attentive to my own kids he became “Uncle Mike” to them. Bill loved your dad so much. It is a huge loss for you kids, Pilar, and all the rest of Mike’s family and friends. Mike was such a fun, fun-loving, larger than life guy! He loved life, loved his family, loved his country. Hold fast to every good memory and be strong. You will be alright.

My condolences to all Mike’s brothers, sister, Mom, Partner and children. Memories of Mike go way back. All bring a smile to my face. Almost felt like he was a family member when he was in Jr. High and High School. When visiting my brother Mark, it was constant laughter. Mike just had a way about him. During college breaks Mike would visit and just make my Mom and Dad laugh and laugh with his stories. I only reconnected in resent years through Facebook. Enjoyed him even through Facebook. Gone to soon. He will be forever by etched in our memories and heart.

1st day of 5th grade 1972...Lockwood Elementary...Mike and i first met.
We were the last 2 kids assigned a home room.... Mrs. Cardy never rang her desk bell more than the year she met Mike.
From that moment forward, my wife and i both shared our school years with Mike. (CHS 1980)
He was truly a gentle giant.
Ornery for sure and absolutely as TOUGH as anyone i have ever known... but blessed with the heart to sincerely care.
Afraid of nothing, Mike was the true "protector" of our class and an absolute Superman on the mat.
He was definitely hungry for life and his success proved it.
All that being said and yet my last conversation with Mike was a phone call sharing tears with Tari and I in which he offered prayers and concern for a few classmates and the current health cicumstances that they were facing.
RIP big Mike.
I for one will be telling Mike Potts stories until i join you.

Mike was a wonderful, kind, friendly, warm person. He welcomed us to the neighborhood when we moved in last year, helped our kids find their lost kitty when she escaped, and was the very definition of a good neighbor. Our deepest sympathies to his family - we are shocked and saddened at his passing. He will be missed.

Mike you were always the life of the party. Definitely a gentle giant . It was always great to have you home for our Coventry Comets high school reunion. The world is getting rough. I think the Lord needed your help and wrestling abilities to kick someone’s butt! Go get him! Help us get another victory! We love you Mike!! Condolences to your family. RIP

Michael was a passionate American and loved our country. He was proud to be a hard working American that had his own business. He was a kind and caring individual that reached out to folks that needed a helping hand. He volunteered his time to city initiatives.
He loved his family and his neighbors...always happy to defend our freedoms and to stand up for America.
He was a proud graduate of Michigan State.
He will be missed as he left us suddenly and without warning. Mike had a faith in God, so we know he is home w his family that went before him.
God bless you, Mike. You will be missed by anyone that knew you...you were one in a million.
