Michael Tomasulo Obituary

TOMASULO, Michael A. 94, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 21. Born in New York, he served for 27 years in the U.S. Army earning the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, one with valor, and the Purple Heart, before retiring with the rank of Major in 1960. He received a Master's in psychology and worked at Long Island University as Academic Dean and professor. Retiring again in 1981, he moved with his late wife, Frances, to St. Petersburg, where he was active at Holy Cross Catholic Church, JROTC, MOAA, the Retired Intelligence Officers Assn., Knights of Columbus, Sons of Italy, Five Towns Men's Club, and Elks. He is survived by daughters Rose Eileen Davis, NJ, C. Maureen Mathews, NY, Mary Kaye Sparaco, NJ; son Michael A. Tomasulo, VA; friend Georgia French; sisters Margaret Scarfia, Lillian Tignanelli, Theresa LaTorella of Gulfport, Robert LaTorella, Dr. & Mrs. Peter P. Franco also of Gulfport. Michael also is survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation 2-4 & 6-8pm Friday, Sept. 24th at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 7820 38th Ave. N, St. Petersburg, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am Saturday, Sept. 25th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7851 54th Ave. N. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Holy Cross Catholic Church or to the Wounded Warrior Project 7020 AC Skinner Pkwy., Ste. 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
