Nicholas JOHNSON

JOHNSON, Nicholas Henry of Dunedin, Florida, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021, after an unexpected heart attack. He was 66 years old. Nick was born December 19, 1954, in Fresno, California. At a young age he moved to Sacramento, California, later graduating from Luther Burbank High School. Following high school, Nick proudly attended the University of California, Davis where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Literature. An enthusiastic golfer, Nick led his high school team to many victories and earned his varsity letter in golf. He continued golfing throughout his entire life, even coaching golf at PORTA High School in Petersburg, Illinois, where he raised his children. He was known to carry golf clubs in the trunk of his car, and was always up for a match. Nick spent the first half of his professional career as the co-founder and CEO of Midwest Rehabilitation Services in central Illinois. For the second half, Nick worked at a real estate brokerage in Clearwater, Florida, where he lived for 19 years. In business and in life, Nick would say that he was a "survivor" and was always ready for the next challenge. Nick is survived by his two children, Lauren Papadopoulos and Kyle Johnson; his sister and brother, Kim Johnson Rabe and Gary Johnson; as well as his one-year-old granddaughter, Hollis Papadopoulos, who was his final passion in life. He is also leaving behind his best friend and business partner, David Watson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Jacklyn and Jack Johnson. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at the Edgewater Arms Clubhouse located at 620 Edgewater Drive in Dunedin, Florida on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 4-7 pm. A special thanks to his close friends at Edgewater Arms for helping arrange the details of the Celebration. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to send memorial donations to the Pinellas County Library in Nick's honor as he loved to read.
