Ora Carlton Obituary

CARLTON, Ora "Lois" 87, of Tampa, passed away May 13, 2012. She was an honor graduate of Plant City High School, afterward she attended Florida Southern College. Lois was very active in her community, serving as past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Greater Tampa Showmen's Association, member of the Tampa Junior Women's Club, she was active in the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was also a member of Hyde Park Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She retired as an executive secretary for the Hillsborough Planning Commission after more than 17 years. She was preceded in death by her son, C.J. Sedlmayr III. She is survived by her children, son, Michael Sedlmayr of Brooks- ville, daughter, Patricia Sedlmayr Painter (Thomas) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Carla Jae Sedlmayr (and her mother, Ann Sedlmayr), Heidi Sedlmayr, Thomas Painter III, and Kelly Carlton Painter; sister, Betty Ann Ritter; sister-in-law, Helen Carlton; nieces, Pamela Anders, Mary Sue Dunaway, Linda Carroll, Mary Lee Parks, Janice Gresham; nephews, Dr. John Causey, and Robert Carlton. There will be a celebration of Lois' life on Saturday, June 2, 11am, at Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 500 W. Platt Street, Tampa 33606. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Lois' name to Hyde Park United Methodist Church youth ministries.
