Patricia Alvarez Obituary

ALVAREZ, Patricia C., passed away February 9, 2009. She is survived by her children, Suzanne, Ronnie, and David Alvarez; and grand- children, Devin, Stephen, Olivia, and Joshua. Those who knew her remember her as kind, generous and thoughtful, always seeing the good in everyone. She was born September 10, 1935, in Camilla, Ga. "Patsy" was the only child of Ralph C. "Red" Maddox of Georgia Bulldogs fame and Mildred P. Maddox. Following her father' s death in World War II, she and her mother moved to Tampa. A Plant High School graduate, she also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Teaching from University of Tampa and taught for more than 30 years at Miles Elementary. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 39 years, Silvio Alvarez Jr., who also graduated from University of Tampa, where they were the campus "Lucy and Desi" couple. Vivacious and outgoing, her radiant smile, sparkling eyes and signature red hair could light up a room. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, lector for Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, actress in community theatre and was nominated for two Lary Awards. Join us in loving memorial at 4 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009, at Harmony Church, 2517 W. Henry Ave. Tampa, FL 33614. I learned just yesterday of Pat's death. She was indeed a gracious, classy woman, and a capable actress for West Coast Players and other community troupes. May her family find comfort in the fact that she was loved by and inspired many.

I just worked along side Pat in a play put on by Avenue Players and I enjoyed her so much. Her part was the mother of the bride and I was the bride. I am also a redhead and I had someone from the audience ask if our Director paired us intentionally. Pat, we will all miss you so much. My sympathy goes out to your family.

Art and I had the good fortune to work with Pat for many years at Miles. She used her creativity in the classroom with her little ones, and could write wonderful poetry and do great art work for those retirement parties. We saw her occasionally over the years, and she always looked exactly the same! and seemed to enjoy her life so much. Our deepest sympathy to family and friends. Carole and Art Morley, Lutz, Florida

I met Pat when I first began acting here in the Tampa Bay Area. I was charmed by how very gracious, kind, and welcoming she was to a new face. She will be missed by her many Community Theatre friends
