Paul Friederich Obituary

Friederich, Paul Joseph

92, of Largo, FL, passed away peacefully, at home, on November 1, 2025, surrounded by family. Paul was born in Belleville, IL on June 18, 1933. After serving in the U.S. Army, he wed Janet Jaeger on Thanksgiving day in 1959 and began working for GE, where he retired in 1991. Paul was heavily involved in St. Patrick School and Church for 62 years and in Clearwater Central Catholic High School for 15 years. Paul was a dedicated and devoted man in every aspect of his life. He was happiest while partying with family and working on electronics in his garage. He served on the City of Largo Public Works Advisory Board. He was greatly involved in his children's school and extra-curricular activities. Paul loved to laugh, had a great sense of humour, and his characteristic, sly smirk made everyone in his presence smile. He was a man of deep faith, always kind, led by example, and was simply a great human! Paul is survived by his wife, Janet, of nearly 66 years; brothers: James (Joyce) and Richard (Jane); six children: Stephen (Terrie) Friederich, Diane Kledzik, Laurie Moyson, David Friederich, Mark (Dina) Friederich, Ann Friederich; and five grandchildren: Luke Kledzik, Amanda (Drew) Strickland, Maxmillian (Hailey) Friederich, Nathalie Friederich, Andrew Kledzik, and a very large and loving, extended family stemming from nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Pinellas Hope or to St. Patrick School or Church. Visitation: Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, 4 – 7 pm, Hubbell Funeral Home 499 North Indian Rocks Road Belleair Bluffs, FL. Funeral Mass: Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, 10 am, St. Patrick Catholic Church 1507 Trotter Road SW Largo, FL.

Paul would sometimes help me clean up after Mass. One day I was going to cut down the candles and I was leaning forward to look at something on the sanctuary floor and the glass follower fell off the end of the candle.

The wax was still hot and liquid so when the glass hit the floor it shattered and hot wax went all over. Paul looked at me, then he looked at the floor, then he looked at me again. He got that little grin on his face that I always remembered.

He said he had something to get the wax off the floor. He went home, got some cleaner, and came back. It took us a bit but we got all the wax off the floor.

Paul was also the keeper of the light. There was a little light above the picture of Jesus to the entrance to the sacristy. About every six months Paul would get his ladder, climb up, and change the bulb.

I have a lot of these stories, and each one of them illustrates the kindness, generosity, and love Paul had for others. Paul loved the Catholic Church, he loved his Lord Jesus, and that fact was exemplified in every breath he took.

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine.
Et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Fidelium animae, per misericordiam Dei, requiescant in pace.
Amen.
